Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the MyShop mobile application ("MyShop", "the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and protects information when a shop owner uses the app. MyShop is a tool for small shop owners in Rwanda to record daily sales and track customer credit ("amadeni").

1. Who this policy is for

MyShop accounts are used by shop owners (the "user"). A shop owner uses the app to record their own business activity. Where a shop owner enters information about their customers (for example a credit customer's name and phone number), the shop owner is responsible for that information; MyShop only stores it locally on the shop owner's device.

2. Information we collect

a) Shop account information (stored on our servers)

• Phone number (used as your login name)
• Password (stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in plain text)
• Shop name and, optionally, the owner's name
• Subscription and payment records (the monthly service fee)

b) Daily report data (sent to our servers only when you press SOZA UMUNSI)

• The date the day was closed
• Total cash sales, total credit sales and total income for the day
• Total debt repayments received that day
• A per-product summary: product name, quantity sold, and amounts

This daily summary does not include any customer names or phone numbers.

c) Information stored only on your device (never sent to us)

• Your product list and selling prices
• Individual sales you record during the day
• Your credit customers' names, phone numbers and outstanding balances
• The list of products each customer took on credit

This information is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. Day-to-day sales, repayments and credit records remain on the device; only the aggregated daily summary described in section (b) is transmitted.

3. How we use information

• To create and secure your shop account and let you log in
• To store and show your submitted daily reports
• To manage your monthly subscription and let an administrator re-activate your account after payment
• To operate, maintain and improve the service

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

4. Permissions the app uses

• Internet / network access — to log in and submit your daily report.
• When you tap a phone number in the app, your phone's dialer opens with the number filled in. The app does not place calls by itself and does not read your contacts.

5. How information is shared

We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. Information is processed only by:

• Our hosting provider, which runs the servers and database that store your account and daily reports on our behalf.
• Authorities, if we are legally required to disclose information by law.

6. How we protect information

• Data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
• Passwords are stored only as secure one-way hashes (bcrypt).
• Access to the app's data requires logging in with your phone number and password.

7. Data retention and deletion

We keep your shop account and submitted daily reports for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and its reports at any time by contacting us using the details below; an administrator can remove a shop and all of its reports on request.

Information stored only on your device is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

8. Children

MyShop is a business tool intended for shop owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
